Following the acquisition of one of their largest suppliers, a global Real Estate client approached IC Procurement to lead the integration of the procurement function of the newly acquired business.
Phase 2: Deliver
Working closely with the Parent company, IC Procurement were to embed themselves within the offices of the newly acquired business. Working closely with the Exec, Regional Directors and the Procurement function, IC Procurement were tasked to lead a change programme spanning 18 months to deliver the following key objectives:
Upskill Procurement team by delivering Category Management training
Develop supplier and spend management tool to support roll out of Category Management
Optimise supplier agreements with key suppliers
Facilitate and support roll out of Group eProcurement software
Introduce the use of e-auctions for appropriate areas of spend
Develop plan to reduce costs by £3m
Outcome
After a short mobilisation period, IC Procurement quickly set to work by meeting the team and key stakeholders, analysing data, prioritising opportunities and developing a plan to meet all of the objectives. Within the first 6 months, the team had cleansed and categorised the clients spend, rolled out category management training and developed category strategies that were capable of exceeding the savings target by £700k. The next 12 months subsequently saw the successful e-auctioning of several areas of spend via the Groups eProcurement software, including the first global e-auction, delivering a 29% saving. In addition there were new supplier agreements put in place as well as the re-negotiation of existing ones. By the end of the 18 months, IC Procurement had met all of their objectives and in most cases, either exceeded them or exceeded the clients expectations of delivery timescales.
